Connect SmartHome 2K Outdoor Camera 4 Pack

The Connect SmartHome Wireless 2K Outdoor Camera 4 Pack (model CSH-2KODCQ928) is a battery-powered security system designed for wire-free outdoor surveillance. According to the manufacturer, each camera records at 2K QHD resolution (2560 × 1440) at 15 frames per second and features both infrared and colour night vision up to 10 metres. Detection is managed via a passive infrared (PIR) sensor covering a 100-degree field of view up to 8 metres, paired with human detection, two-way audio, and a built-in siren. Each 195-gram camera features an IP65 weather-resistance rating for dust and rain, running on an internal 4,400 mAh rechargeable battery paired with an included 3W solar panel and three-metre USB-C cable for trickle charging.

Who it suits

This four-camera kit suits households seeking perimeter coverage across multiple vantage points without incurring ongoing cloud subscription costs. The cameras support local recording to individual microSD cards up to 256GB, keeping video clips stored directly on the hardware. Its wire-free format avoids complex cabling, making it straightforward to mount near rooflines, sheds, or fences where mains power is unavailable. It is well suited to homes using Google Home or Amazon Alexa for smart displays and voice control. However, buyers should skip this pack if they require fluid video, as the 15 fps frame rate is noticeably lower than standard 30 fps alternatives. It is also unsuitable for households reliant on Apple Home, Matter, or Home Assistant, as the system does not support these platforms.

Australian notes

For Australian installations, the bundled 3W solar panels help maintain battery levels using local sunlight, eliminating the need to routinely take cameras down for recharging. Connect SmartHome provides an integrated 3-metre USB-C cable on each panel, though no 5V/1A USB wall charging plug is included in the packaging for bench charging. Setup is assisted by dual-band Wi-Fi support across both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network bands, alongside Bluetooth for device pairing. Retailers such as The Good Guys list a two-year manufacturer warranty for the pack. When positioning outdoor cameras around perimeters, verify your state or territory surveillance device and privacy regulations before recording common or neighbouring areas. Renters should also consult their state residential tenancy authority regarding exterior mounting and wall fixings.
