The Eufy Security Solar Wall Light Cam S120 (model T81A0) is an outdoor security camera and motion-activated light designed to operate without mains electrical wiring. According to eufy, the device records video at 2K resolution (2304 × 1296) and includes both infrared and colour night vision. Illumination is provided by an integrated 300-lumen wall light with a 4,000K colour temperature. Power is supplied by a built-in 5,200 mAh rechargeable battery paired with a 1.1 W solar panel integrated into the top of the housing. Eufy claims that approximately two hours of direct daily sunlight provides continuous power. For detection, the unit relies on a passive infrared (PIR) sensor effective up to 7.6 metres, complemented by on-device artificial intelligence for human detection, two-way audio, and a 105 dB siren.
Who it suits
This camera suits Australian households looking to monitor entry points, pathways, or side gates without running electrical cables or paying ongoing cloud storage fees. Motion events are stored directly to 8 GB of built-in local eMMC storage, which eufy notes holds approximately 60 days of activity. It also suits renters or homeowners who want straightforward wall-mounted installation, provided the chosen mounting position receives adequate direct sun.
It is less suited to users requiring continuous 24/7 recording, as the camera operates strictly on motion triggers to preserve battery life. Similarly, the 300-lumen light cannot stay illuminated continuously all night; eufy notes it operates only upon motion detection or manual activation via the app. Users looking to expand storage via microSD will also find the internal 8 GB capacity fixed.
Australian notes
Australian retailers list the S120 with a 12-month manufacturer warranty. The device connects exclusively over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n); 5 GHz networks are not supported. For smart home integration, the unit works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, but does not support Apple Home, Matter, SmartThings, or official Home Assistant integrations.
Because the unit is solar-powered and completely wire-free, it avoids the licensed electrical work required for hardwired wall lights. Renters should check their tenancy agreement before drilling mounting holes into external walls. When positioning the camera near boundaries or shared driveways, review your state or territory surveillance and privacy regulations regarding outdoor cameras capturing neighbouring property. Note that while the camera includes a USB-C manual charging port, eufy does not include a USB-C charging cable or power adapter in the box.
