TP Link Tapo 2K 3MP Solar-Powered Security Camera Kit

The TP-Link Tapo C410 KIT (also documented by TP-Link Australia under model TC82 KIT) is an outdoor, wire-free security camera paired with a dedicated solar panel. According to TP-Link specifications, the unit captures video at 2K 3MP resolution (2304 by 1296 pixels) at 15 frames per second using a 1/2.8-inch CMOS sensor. Motion sensing relies on a passive infrared (PIR) sensor with a wake-up range of up to eight metres alongside on-device artificial intelligence for person detection. For night illumination, the camera includes 850 nm infrared LEDs and integrated spotlights that deliver full-colour night vision up to nine metres. Power is provided by a built-in 6400 mAh lithium-ion battery topped up via an included A201 solar panel that connects through a weather-gasketed USB-C port.\n\n## Who it suits\nThis camera suits homeowners and tenants looking to monitor outdoor perimeter areas without running mains electrical wiring. Because TP-Link provides free on-device person detection and supports local storage via a microSD card slot up to 512 GB, it works well for users who want to avoid recurring cloud storage fees. It is also suitable for households running Amazon Alexa or Google Home ecosystems, as both platforms support streaming live camera feeds to compatible smart displays.\n\nHowever, buyers seeking round-the-clock surveillance should skip this model; TP-Link confirms it captures motion-activated clips only to preserve battery reserves. It is equally unsuitable for smart home setups built on Apple Home, Matter, or Home Assistant, as it lacks HomeKit compatibility and does not expose local RTSP or ONVIF streams.\n\n## Australian notes\nThe camera features an IP65 weather-resistance rating according to TP-Link, designed to withstand outdoor rain and dust. The solar panel includes an integrated 25 cm lead alongside an included 3.8-metre extension cable, allowing users to position the panel in direct sunlight while mounting the camera in sheltered spots. As noted by TP-Link, maintaining battery levels requires regular direct sunlight.\n\nNetworking is restricted to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), meaning local home networks must provide an active 2.4 GHz band. TP-Link Australia backs the hardware with a one-year limited manufacturer warranty. If installing cameras near shared boundaries or in rental properties, check your state privacy legislation and residential tenancy authority regarding mounting fixtures and recording angles.
