The WiZ Colour & Tunable White 90mm Smart Downlight (model WIZWCADWNLTBT) is an 8W recessed LED fixture designed for standard 90mm ceiling cutouts (fitting openings between 90mm and 100mm). WiZ AU states that the unit delivers up to 800 lumens across 16 million colours and tunable white tones ranging from 2200K to 6500K. The unit comes pre-wired with an 800mm flex lead and a standard Australian two-pin mains plug, operating on standard 220–240V mains power. Connectivity relies on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi alongside Bluetooth for setup, with Matter support enabling integration into major smart ecosystems without mandatory subscription fees.
Who it suits
This downlight suits homeowners and renters with existing ceiling power sockets who want colour-changing ambient and task lighting without buying a proprietary hub. Because it carries Matter certification, it integrates with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and Apple Home, as well as Home Assistant via Matter or its local WiZ integration. It also suits multi-light spaces where WiZ SpaceSense motion detection can be enabled, which requires two or more compatible WiZ fixtures in the same room.
It is less suitable for rooms controlled by legacy wall dimmers. WiZ AU specifies that the downlight is incompatible with standard trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmers; dimming must be managed via the app, voice commands, or WiZ wireless remotes. Furthermore, the fitting has a fixed 100-degree beam angle without gimbal adjustment, making it unsuitable for sloped ceilings or accent walls requiring directional light. Apple Home users should note that a Matter-compatible hub, such as an Apple TV or HomePod, is necessary to add the light to Apple Home.
Australian notes
In Australian homes where ceiling voids already feature standard plug bases (surface sockets), the pre-wired flex and two-pin plug allow direct, plug-in replacement. If your ceiling lacks plug bases and needs fixed wiring or new sockets, that is generally work for a licensed electrician; check your state's electrical safety regulator for local requirements.
The downlight requires a dedicated 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, as 5 GHz bands are unsupported according to WiZ specifications. WiZ AU lists an IP54 rating on the front emitting face and IP40 for the rear body, though retailer listings such as JB Hi-Fi mention an IP20 rating for indoor use. Retailers confirm the downlight includes a two-year manufacturer warranty in Australia.
