Google Premium Audio Speaker

The Google Home Speaker (model GA10554-AU / GA09978-AU) is a compact voice assistant unit built around Google's Gemini platform. According to Google Store Australia, the unit houses a 58 mm full-range driver delivering 360-degree omnidirectional sound in a mono configuration. Processing is handled by a quad-core processor with a dedicated neural processing unit, supported by 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of flash storage. Physical controls comprise three capacitive touch zones and a dedicated two-stage hardware mute switch for the three far-field microphones. On the networking side, Google specifies dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.4, and an integrated Thread 1.3 border router, enabling the speaker to control local Matter devices. Mains power is supplied via a 30W USB-C wall adapter fitted with a captive 1.5-metre cable.\n\n## Who it suits\n\nAccording to technical specifications and retailer listings, this speaker suits buyers who run their connected devices through Google Home and want an integrated hub for modern protocols. Because it functions as both a Matter controller and a Thread border router, it allows users to add compatible Matter-over-Thread accessories without purchasing a standalone bridge. It also suits users seeking everyday voice functionality for media playback, alarms, and smart routines, which Google confirms work without an ongoing fee. Conversely, households built around Apple Home or Amazon Alexa should avoid this model, as Google Store Australia confirms those ecosystems are not supported. It is also unsuitable for buyers who require auxiliary wired audio inputs from turntables or televisions, as PCMag Australia notes the hardware contains no 3.5 mm or optical connections. Additionally, users hoping to utilise advanced Gemini Live conversational interactions should note that Google restricts these features to an ongoing paid Google Home Premium subscription.\n\n## Australian notes\n\nRetailer listings from Officeworks confirm that Australian stock includes an Australian standard mains plug adapter for the 30W power delivery supply. The speaker's dual-band Wi-Fi 6 radio supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, allowing standard connection to Australian residential Wi-Fi routers. Local retail specifications from Officeworks and Microboss confirm the speaker includes a two-year manufacturer warranty for Australian buyers, sitting alongside statutory guarantees under Australian Consumer Law.
