The Netatmo Smart Weather Station (model NWS01-P) is a dual-module monitoring kit designed to track environmental conditions inside and outside the home. According to Legrand Australia and Netatmo specifications, the mains-powered indoor module measures ambient temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, background sound levels, and carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration. The battery-operated outdoor module measures external temperature and humidity, communicating with the indoor base station across a radio-frequency link of up to 100 metres line of sight. Environmental data is logged automatically every five minutes and stored on Netatmo's cloud platform without subscription charges.
Who it suits
This system suits households looking to track indoor air quality alongside basic garden weather metrics. Netatmo's documentation confirms that the indoor module's CO2 sensor allows users to monitor ventilation, using a capacitive touch indicator light on the top of the casing to signal when a room requires fresh air. It also suits owners of multi-ecosystem households, as the device officially supports Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and Home Assistant.
It is less suitable for users who want an all-in-one desktop weather console, as neither module includes an LCD screen; readings must be viewed through the mobile app or voice assistants. Buyers looking for comprehensive storm monitoring out of the box should also note that rain gauges and wind anemometers are not included and must be purchased as separate add-on accessories. Furthermore, because data passes through Netatmo's cloud infrastructure before updating, it does not suit users looking for instantaneous, completely offline local sensor streaming.
Australian notes
According to Legrand Australia, the indoor unit ships with interchangeable regional power pins, including a standard Australian plug, powered through a 5V Micro-USB cable. The outdoor module operates on two included AAA batteries, which Netatmo states provide an operating life of up to two years.
Connecting the station requires a standard 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, as 5 GHz bands are unsupported. Regarding local weather exposure, the outdoor unit features UV-resistant anodised aluminium but is not designed to withstand direct heavy downpours or water immersion. Netatmo advises mounting it under a sheltered roof eave, balcony, or carport. The product is supported by a 12-month manufacturer warranty, operating alongside statutory consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law.
