The TP-Link Tapo P110 is a compact Wi-Fi smart plug that sits between a wall socket and an appliance, letting you switch that appliance on and off from the Tapo app, set schedules and timers, and watch how much power it is drawing. TP-Link's Australian page lists it with an Australian plug, a 220-240V rating and a maximum load of 10A or 2300W. TP-Link describes the body as mini-sized so it does not block the neighbouring outlet, and gives the dimensions as 76.5 × 43.5 × 42mm.
Who it suits
The P110 suits anyone curious about what a heater, dehumidifier or entertainment unit uses, and renters who cannot change fixed wiring. TP-Link says the app tracks real-time power use and lets you enter your electricity rate, including time-of-use pricing, to estimate running costs. Treat those numbers as estimates: TP-Link does not state a measurement accuracy on its Australian page, and a plug only sees the one appliance plugged into it. For whole-home or solar monitoring you will want something that sits at the switchboard instead.
Skip the standard P110 if you want Apple Home or a Matter setup. TP-Link's Australian P110 page lists compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Samsung SmartThings, with no Matter mention. TP-Link sells a separate model, the Tapo P110M, which its Australian page describes as Matter-certified with the same 10A, 2300W rating; JB Hi-Fi and Bunnings both list the P110M. Check the box carefully when buying.
Australian notes
TP-Link lists RCM and SAA certifications for the Australian P110. It connects over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only (802.11b/g/n), so make sure your router broadcasts a 2.4GHz network. TP-Link Australia's warranty page lists smart power products at two years, for units bought in Australia or New Zealand from an authorised retailer, and notes it does not affect your Australian Consumer Law rights. We saw the P110 listed at Bunnings (single plug) and Officeworks (two-pack). TP-Link's Australian product page mentions no subscription, and setup is app-only with no hub.
Alternatives in our catalogue: the Shelly 1PM Gen3 is a Wi-Fi power relay rather than a plug-in device; the Shelly Pro 4PM is a four-channel relay designed for a DIN rail in the switchboard; and Powersensor is an energy and solar monitoring system aimed at the whole home rather than a single appliance.
