The NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro is a dedicated streaming media player and micro-console running Android TV (Android 11.0). Powered by NVIDIA's Tegra X1+ processor with a 256-core GPU and 3 GB of RAM, the unit connects to a television via HDMI to deliver up to 4K HDR content at 60 frames per second. NVIDIA notes that the hardware supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, and advanced surround-sound audio formats including Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-X pass-through. In addition to running standard streaming applications and GeForce NOW cloud gaming, the unit includes two USB 3.0 ports and Gigabit Ethernet, allowing it to function as a Plex Media Server using attached storage.
Who it suits
This player suits home theatre owners who want uncompressed audio pass-through and 4K HDR streaming to an AV receiver or soundbar. It is also well suited to users hosting a local Plex library who prefer not to run a separate computer continuously, as well as GeForce NOW subscribers wanting cloud gaming on a main screen. The included remote features motion-activated backlighting and a lost-remote finder, which suits living room setups. However, households seeking Apple Home or native Matter support should note NVIDIA does not list native integration for either platform. Those wanting modern HDMI 2.1 gaming features such as 4K at 120 Hz, or hardware-level AV1 decoding, will need to look elsewhere.
Australian notes
Retail stock sold through Australian retailers such as JB Hi-Fi, Scorptec, and Computer Alliance includes a 40 W external power adapter configured with an Australian mains plug head. The power supply supports 100–240V AC input, operating natively on standard Australian 230V mains power without a voltage converter. For networking, it features dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5 alongside an RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet jack. Smart home ecosystems supported out of the box include Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings, while Home Assistant is not officially supported by the manufacturer. Australian purchases carry a 1-year manufacturer warranty alongside standard statutory guarantees provided under Australian Consumer Law.
