The Reolink Video Doorbell WiFi (model D340W) is a hardwired smart doorbell that records in 2K+ (5-megapixel) resolution at 2560 × 1920. According to Reolink, it features a 180-degree diagonal field of view with a 4:3 aspect ratio, infrared night vision, IP65 weather resistance, and two-way audio with customisable quick replies. The unit performs person detection locally on the device, and footage can be saved to an internal microSD card (up to 256GB), an FTP server, or a Reolink NVR without ongoing monthly fees.
Who it suits
This unit suits homeowners and smart-home hobbyists looking for local network control and reliable smart assistant links. Because Reolink provides local RTSP and ONVIF streams, it works well with Home Assistant setups, as well as Google Home and Amazon Alexa smart displays. It is also well matched to properties with dual-band routers, as it connects over both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi frequencies or via Ethernet.
It is not suited to renters who cannot drill mounting holes or run cables, as it does not operate on battery power. Buyers who rely entirely on Apple Home, Samsung SmartThings, or Matter will also need to look elsewhere, as none of these platforms are supported natively.
Australian notes
The doorbell requires continuous power via 12–24V AC (50/60Hz) or 24V DC existing wiring, or through the included 24V DC plug-in power adapter. If you are altering household wiring to supply low-voltage power at your front door, check your state's electrical safety regulator. Renters should review their tenancy agreement before drilling mounting holes into brick or door frames.
The package includes a wireless chime fitted with an Australian plug, designed to fit into standard 240V AC power outlets and communicate with the doorbell over a 433 MHz RF signal. When positioning the camera near shared footpaths or neighbours, check local state and territory privacy and surveillance laws regarding external camera coverage. Local retail purchases from authorised Australian distributors are covered by Reolink's two-year manufacturer warranty, with an optional six-month warranty extension upon product registration.
