The Shark NeverChange5 is a standalone portable air purifier sold in Australia in two configurations: the standard HP150 and the larger HP300 Max. SharkNinja indicates that both models use a four-stage filtration system combining a washable Debris Defense pre-filter screen, a pet particle barrier, activated carbon, and a NanoSeal HEPA filter designed to trap 99.97% of particles down to 0.1 to 0.2 microns. Shark claims the core filter can last up to five years, assisted by Clean Sense IQ sensors that track PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 particles and adjust fan output automatically across multiple speeds. Unlike connected climate appliances, the NeverChange5 contains no wireless connectivity and relies entirely on on-device physical controls.
Who it suits
This appliance suits homeowners and renters seeking low-maintenance air filtration without the fuss of creating accounts, installing mobile apps, or managing Wi-Fi networks. Because it operates completely offline, it suits anyone who prefers straightforward tactile buttons or wants to keep network-connected electronics out of bedrooms. The standard HP150 is sized for smaller spaces, with Shark reporting coverage of 12 square metres at 4.8 air changes per hour (or up to 60 square metres at 1 air change per hour). For larger open-plan living areas, the HP300 increases coverage to 28 square metres at 4.8 air changes per hour (up to 130 square metres at 1 air change per hour).
It will not suit smart-home users looking to automate air cleaning via Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, or Home Assistant. Furthermore, according to Reviews.org, the advertised five-year filter lifespan assumes the unit runs for only 12 hours per day in compact rooms; operating the purifier continuously 24/7 or in larger, dustier environments will reduce filter life.
Australian notes
SharkNinja distributes the NeverChange5 locally through retailers including JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Appliances Online, and BIG W. Both the HP150ANZ and HP300ANZ come with a standard Australian 1.83-metre mains cord and are backed by a two-year manufacturer warranty from SharkNinja Australia. Power consumption is rated at 26W for the HP150 and 54W for the HP300. Note that official Australian listings do not publish Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) or decibel sound metrics, and the built-in scent cartridge requires periodic replacement if you choose to use the odour-neutralising dial.
