The TCL S55H is a 2.1-channel home audio system comprising a compact soundbar and a standalone wireless subwoofer. According to TCL Australia, the system delivers up to 220W of peak power and is designed to improve everyday television audio, film playback, and music streaming. The unit features HDMI eARC connectivity alongside optical TOSLINK, 3.5mm AUX, USB playback, and Bluetooth 5.3. While it accepts Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X source signals, it processes these multi-channel formats through its stereo drivers and dedicated subwoofer to provide virtualised spatial audio rather than true multichannel surround.
Who it suits
This system suits apartment dwellers, bedroom setups, or small living rooms where running cables for discrete rear satellite speakers is inconvenient or impractical. If you primarily watch free-to-air broadcasts, streaming services, and films, the dedicated wireless subwoofer handles low frequencies to give dialogue and effects more body than standard integrated TV speakers can provide. Users with compatible TCL televisions can also use TCL's Tutti Choral feature, which synchronises the TV speakers with the soundbar for expanded front-stage presence.
Conversely, dedicated home cinema fans seeking authentic surround sound or true overhead audio will want to consider a 5.1 or 5.1.2 channel system with discrete rear channels. In addition, those who want whole-home Wi-Fi audio should note that the S55H relies on Bluetooth 5.3 or physical inputs for playback; it does not offer built-in Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, or direct multi-room smart speaker linking.
Australian notes
The TCL S55H is distributed widely across Australia through retailers such as The Good Guys, Bing Lee, and Harvey Norman, backed by a standard one-year manufacturer warranty. It ships with standard Australian 240V detachable 1.5-metre power cords for both the main soundbar and the wireless subwoofer, meaning you will need two available wall power points near your entertainment unit.
TCL supplies an included wall-mount bracket in the box. If you are renting your property, verify your tenancy agreement and state residential tenancy guidelines before drilling holes into wall studs or plasterboard. Sound settings and calibration are managed via Bluetooth through the TCL Home app using your smartphone microphone via the AI Sonic-Adaptation tool, meaning setup does not require connecting the soundbar itself to a home Wi-Fi network.
