The TP-Link Tapo D210 (model TAPO-D210) is a wire-free video doorbell designed for residential entries. According to TP-Link Australia, the unit records in 2K 3MP resolution (2304 × 1296) across a 160-degree diagonal head-to-toe viewing angle, backed by an IP65 dust and water resistance rating. It provides both infrared night vision up to 7.6 metres and full-colour night vision through an integrated spotlight. Unlike video doorbells that depend solely on cloud servers, the D210 includes an on-device microSD card slot capable of handling cards up to 512 GB, alongside a dedicated plug-in indoor chime.
Who it suits
This doorbell suits renters and homeowners seeking video coverage without running electrical wiring. TP-Link indicates that core operations—including live streaming, two-way audio, and person or motion detection alerts—function without a Tapo Care subscription. It is also suitable for properties already integrated into the Amazon Alexa or Google Home ecosystems.
Conversely, households invested in Apple Home, SmartThings, or Matter should look elsewhere, as TP-Link does not support these platforms on the D210. It is also unsuitable for those wanting continuous trickle charging from existing doorbell transformers. Because TP-Link confirms there are no hardwired terminals, you must detach the entire doorbell using the supplied pin tool whenever the internal 6400 mAh battery needs recharging.
Australian notes
TP-Link Australia specifies that the included indoor chime plugs into a standard Australian AC wall outlet, while the doorbell unit itself recharges using a standard 5V/1A USB power source. Network connectivity requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (IEEE 802.11b/g/n); 5 GHz networks are not supported.
TP-Link covers the product with a 12-month limited warranty when purchased through Australian retailers such as JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, and Bunnings. While local clip retention is supported, a microSD card is not included in the box and must be supplied by the user. Renters attaching the unit and homeowners pointing cameras near neighbouring properties should consult their state's surveillance legislation and tenancy guidelines regarding external recording devices.
