The Dreame L40 Plus (model DRE-L40P) is a robot vacuum and mop featuring an automated dust-emptying base station. According to Dreame Australia, the robot combines 13,000 Pa Vormax suction with a DuoScrub dual rotary mopping system, using downward pressure to scrub hard surfaces alongside RoboSwing technology for edge coverage. Navigation is managed via an LDS LiDAR sensor paired with 3DAdapt laser obstacle avoidance. While the robot carries an internal 350 mL dust box and a 300 mL clean water tank, its dock is dedicated exclusively to dry waste, transferring debris into a 4-litre dust bag designed to hold up to 90 days of dirt.
Who it suits
According to the manufacturer's specifications, the L40 Plus suits households with large areas of hard flooring—such as timber, tiles, or laminate—that require routine vacuuming and surface scrubbing. Because the base station automatically empties the robot's onboard dust container, it suits pet owners and busy households wanting low-maintenance dry debris disposal without accommodating a large-footprint wash station.
Buyers with medium- or thick-pile carpets should exercise caution. Dreame notes that the mop pads lift by up to 7 mm when transitioning over carpet, which may be insufficient to prevent damp pads from brushing against deeper carpet fibres unless the pads are manually removed. Furthermore, households seeking a completely hands-off mopping routine should note that the dock does not wash, refill, or heat-dry the mop pads, meaning users must detach, rinse, and dry the pads manually to prevent odours.
Australian notes
The Dreame L40 Plus is ranged through Australian retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, and Retravision. The dock runs on standard Australian 220–240V AC power and is supplied with a local mains power cord. The base station draws 700W during dust-emptying cycles, while the robot itself is rated at 75W.
Wi-Fi connectivity is limited strictly to 2.4 GHz, so Australian households with dual-band routers will need to ensure the 2.4 GHz band is active during setup. Voice controls are supported for Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Apple Siri Shortcuts, but Matter, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant are not confirmed. Dreame provides a 24-month local manufacturer warranty, and the companion Dreamehome app operates without ongoing subscription fees.
