The Deebot X2 Omni is Ecovacs' square-bodied robot vacuum and mop, sold with a large OMNI base station. ChannelNews reported its Australian launch date as 21 September 2023. Ecovacs says the square shape is the point: it claims the robot can clean to within about 5 mm of a wall edge and reach further into corners than a round robot.
What Ecovacs says it does
On the cleaning side, Ecovacs Australia lists 8000 Pa suction, TrueMapping 3.0 dual-laser LiDAR navigation, AIVI 3D 2.0 obstacle avoidance with pet detection, and OZMO Turbo 2.0 rotating mops that lift 15 mm when carpet is detected. The robot is 9.5 cm tall, which Ecovacs says lets it slip under sofas and beds. The OMNI station empties the robot's dust bin into a bag, refills its water tank from a 4-litre reservoir, washes the mop pads in hot water and dries them with hot air. Multi-floor mapping ("3+1" maps) is supported through the Ecovacs Home app, and the robot has Ecovacs' own YIKO 2.0 voice assistant built in.
It suits bigger homes with a mix of tiles, timber and rugs, where the owner wants the base station, rather than a person, to handle emptying the bin and cleaning the mops. Skip it if you are short on floor space for a tall base station (Ecovacs lists the station at 527.5 mm high), or if you want a robot that works fully offline with Home Assistant.
Australian notes, compatibility and running costs
Ecovacs Australia lists a 2.5-year warranty. At the time of writing its AU online store showed the X2 Omni as sold out and pointed to a newer model; we did find a current Amazon Australia listing. ChannelNews reported that at launch it was ranged at Bing Lee, Godfreys, Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, Robot Specialist, The Good Guys, Amazon and Ecovacs Online, but stock at those retailers now may differ, and a JB Hi-Fi product page we checked no longer loads.
Home Assistant has an official Ecovacs integration for the Deebot series, but its documentation describes it as cloud-connected by default (with an optional self-hosted setup) and leaves exact model support to the community library behind it. Ecovacs' Australian pages did not mention a subscription; the ongoing cost to plan for is consumables: the station's auto-empty system uses dust bags (one comes in the box, and Ecovacs sells compatible antibacterial bags separately).
