The eufy Smart Lock C220 (model T8506) is a Wi-Fi-enabled replacement deadbolt providing six access methods: a biometric fingerprint reader, a backlit touchscreen keypad with scramble passcode protection, the eufy Security mobile app, an Apple Watch app, voice control, and a traditional physical key. eufy states that the fingerprint scanner uses self-learning recognition to identify registered prints in under 0.3 seconds. The exterior hardware carries an IP53 weather-resistance rating (with an IP54 rating on the keypad) and operates in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 70°C. It is certified to ANSI/BHMA Grade 3 standards and runs on eight AA alkaline batteries, which eufy estimates will last up to eight months. If the batteries run flat, an external USB-C port allows emergency power via a portable power bank.
Who it suits
This lock suits households seeking keyless entry with multiple access options without paying ongoing cloud subscriptions. Because it stores up to 50 fingerprints and 100 user passcodes, it fits busy family homes, shared households, and properties where regular visitors or service providers require individual access codes. It also integrates well into smart homes centred on Amazon Alexa or Google Home.
However, it is not suitable for users reliant on Apple Home or Matter, as neither platform is supported. Households looking for automated, hands-free unlocking as they walk up to the door will also need to consider other options, as eufy confirms the C220 does not offer geofence-based auto-unlocking. Additionally, it cannot be linked to eufy HomeBase 2 or HomeBase 3 units.
Australian notes
Before buying in Australia, check your door preparation carefully. The C220 is designed exclusively for standard bored deadbolts on doors between 35 mm and 55 mm thick. It will not fit Australian or European mortise locks commonly installed on modern front doors or security screen doors. Renters should check their lease and their state or territory tenancy authority before altering door locks or fitting new deadbolts.
The unit connects directly to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks and does not support 5 GHz bands. While extra copies of the physical key can be cut, a locksmith cannot rekey the lock cylinder to match an existing household key. The lock is distributed in Australia through retailers such as Bunnings and Appliances Online with a 12-month standard warranty.
