Arlec Grid Connect Smart Strip Light With Razer Chroma RGB

The Arlec Grid Connect Smart Strip Light With Razer Chroma RGB is a flexible, low-voltage indoor LED lightstrip offered in 2-metre (CHR381HA) and 5-metre (CHR382HA) options. According to specifications from Arlec and Grid Connect, it features 90 LEDs per metre—configured as 30 RGB, 30 cool white, and 30 warm white diodes—enabling both tuneable white ambient light and full-colour illumination. The strip supports addressable segmented control, which allows users to assign different colours along distinct sections rather than illuminating the entire length in a single shade. It also includes an integrated microphone for sound-reactive lighting and links with Razer Chroma software on a local network. Power is delivered via an included 220–240V to 12V DC plug-in adaptor with a 1.4-metre lead, requiring no hardwiring.

Who it suits

This strip light suits PC gaming enthusiasts who already utilise the Razer Chroma ecosystem. Grid Connect notes that the strip synchronises directly with Razer Synapse when the host computer is on the same local network. It is also suitable for renters who want ambient lighting, as it uses a standard self-adhesive backing and plugs straight into an existing Australian wall outlet without requiring permanent electrical modifications. The strip can be cut to length at designated points or extended using the included joiner pieces, making it practical for desks, monitor backs, or shelving. Conversely, smart-home users invested in Apple Home, Samsung SmartThings, or Matter should look elsewhere, as Grid Connect confirms none of these ecosystems are supported. There is also no official Home Assistant integration, and the lack of weatherproofing means it is unsuitable for outdoor installations.

Australian notes

Arlec specifies an input voltage of 220–240V AC stepped down to 12V DC, with power consumption rated at 12 watts for the 2-metre version and 24 watts for the 5-metre version. Because it uses a plug-in low-voltage power supply, it does not require a licensed electrician to install. However, renters adhering to lease agreements should inspect property condition requirements and check state or territory tenancy guidelines before applying adhesive strips to painted plaster walls. Network connectivity is strictly limited to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi bands (802.11 b/g/n), meaning dual-band home routers must have 2.4 GHz active during setup. Australian retailer specifications confirm a 12-month manufacturer warranty.
